FELLOWSHIP SWEET

Fellowship sweet
Found at Jesus’ feet
When we draw away
From the world to pray

A time of prayer
A time to share
One with another
With sister or brother

When we pray together
There’s nothing sweeter
Than to lift each other up
And share in worship

How I love to share
Sweet hour of prayer
Coming to the throne of God
Human weak and flawed

He forgives every sin
Giving His peace within
Healing wounded spirits
Helping us never to quit

Come meet my Saviour there
In fellowship and sweet prayer
Share with sister and brother
And pray for one another

A time of prayer
A time to share
One with another
With sister and brother

BETTER OFF?

Sometimes I think I’d be better off
Just my Saviour and I
That way I don’t get hurt
With Him I will get by

People make claims
But don’t follow through
But Jesus came and said
I’ll die for you

He kept His word
And died on a tree
The shedding of His blood
Has set me free

But that was not the end
It was just the beginning
For now He lives in me
And helps keep me from sinning

He wants me to tell others
Of His greatest gift
Of His unfailing love
And a way across the rift

And though I think I’m better off
With just my Saviour and me
I have to tell of His love
And how it can set us free

ANGUISH TO PEACE

Beset and bewildered
Hurting deep inside
Prayers filled with tears
Anguish rolling in like the tide

Prayers with no words
Letting the tears speak for me
Begging my Precious Saviour
To just hold me

I don’t understand
What have I done
Why does despair lay hold of me
At times I am undone

Crying out, Abba, Father
What more must I do
What will lift me up
How will I get through

Slowly the tears subside
A gentle peace fills my soul
I take hold of His nail scarred hand
And He lifts me from the dark hole

His peace washes over me
My tear stained face dries
He has heard my prayers
Sent higher than the eagle flies

He gives me peace enough
To sleep this night
When I awake again
I will seek Him with the morning light

WONDERFUL LOVE

Your wonderful love
Set this sinner free
Coming from heaven above
You died for me

Your grace and mercy
Poured out on the cross
Washing over me
You did not count it loss

You forgave my sin
Turning scarlet to white
Making me clean within
Leading me from the night

How wonderful my Saviour’s love
That fills my soul
Overflowing from heaven above
That heals and makes me whole

ON THE RIGHT TRACK

You know you are on the right track
When the devil gets on your back
No matter how much time you put aside
Your efforts he will deride

When you take the time to pray
he always puts something in your way
Whether it is thoughts or another
We need to cry out to our Abba Father

We need to stick to the narrow path
We need to stop and work out the math
Because if we don’t listen to our heavenly Father
What will happen to “love one another?”

What will happen to “bear each other’s burdens?”
The world is already full of those who are “hurtin”
Our relationships with one another
Would become a burden to suffer

But take heart in the fact
That the devil chooses to attack
Because Jesus suffered too
All for love of me and you

We need to let His love overwhelm us
We need to put our faith solely in Jesus
Then no matter how hard the devil attacks
We know Jesus always has our backs

NOW IS THE TIME

Waxing, flesh for fantasy tattoo’s
Body piercings and alcohol too
Attorneys and hair salons
Restaurants, pharmacies, the list goes on

All these and more are seen
Plain as day with little else in between
The city so packed and crowded
It seems in flesh to be shrouded

This place is no place to be
The noise, the crowds, not for me
But these are the people and places
Gods work ultimately takes us

Whether it is meeting people face to face
Though we are timid, by Gods grace
We can be a witness to them
Lead them from iniquities den

For though we lived not in a city perchance
We still were lost, in need of a chance
Gods grace and mercy rescued our souls
By His blood we were made whole

So now is the time to go tell the Good News
It’s time to save souls and fill the pews
For Jesus will return, we know not the day
But we need to show the lost, the way

DOVES

"And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased."
Luke 3: 22
Thank you to Judy Wilson for allowing me to use one of her pictures of doves in flight.

HOW DO YOU COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

It makes it hard to count your blessings
When all you have is sadness, depressing
Sometimes so many things get you down
Making it feel like you will drown

You know you shouldn’t give in to depression
But it over whelms you in succession
Soon the tears begin to flow
Crying and sadness are all you know

It makes you feel so very alone
It makes you wonder for what to atone
You know God is there by your side
But still you feel so empty inside

All you need is a gentle word
One to lift your spirit upward
A loving word to escape the pit
But you wonder if you deserve it

And yet the Word is spoken
And the depression is broken
The Bible says, “For God so loved”
He sent His Son, so beloved

Jesus came, He lived and died
He rose again and with us abides
He knows and understands what we feel
His ear is open to our every appeal

Start counting your blessings
With your sins confessing
And with grace and mercy from above
The very first blessing is God’s love

If you let it healing begins to flow
And pretty soon you begin to know
All the blessings God has given
With His love you are forgiven

And you count your blessings one by one
Giving thanks for all God has done
You know He walks by your side
And you know His love deep inside

And though life will sometimes get us down
And sadness may within abound
If we can remember to count on God’s love
Then healing will flow from heaven above

IS ANYONE THERE

Is anyone there?
Does anyone care?
Why do I cry myself to sleep
But don’t let on, not a cheep

Sometimes I feel so alone
And wish I could go home
To be held in my Saviour's arms
Free from all alarms

Here I am, head bowed in prayer
With no lack of sorrow or care
Tears falling like rain
From a heart full of pain

Heart sick and sore
Seems no happiness anymore
At least that’s how I feel
As here in prayer I kneel

In my heart I know
(though my head doesn’t think so)
That You my precious Saviour
Are in my heart and prayer

Sometimes so deep is the pain
That my mind returns again and again
A part of me knows I should not
But sometimes it seems all I’ve got

I cry for Your mercy
But don’t feel any surcease
Will I ever be happy again?
If so, please tell me when

How do I let go of sorrow
When I think there’s more tomorrow
Lord how do I let go
That’s what I want to know

Dear Lord hear my plea
My broken heart longs for thee
My prayer I lift on fragile wings
How my soul longs once again to sing

Dear Lord You hear my prayer
Help me to cast away this care
And though the path ahead is unclear
Precious Saviour stay ever near

You lift me from my despair
And of Your loving presence I am aware
Precious Saviour I do know You are there
And You let me know that You care

EVERY DAY'S A BATTLE

Every day’s a battle
As Satan seeks to destroy
Those who are unwary
His tricks he does employ

He gets inside your head
With thoughts that will depress
To make you feel unworthy
And add to daily stress

He will put up stumbling blocks
“Innocently” blocking your way
Adding to the depression
Til you feel you can’t even pray

The Apostle Peter wrote
To be vigilant and sober
For our adversary the devil
Is seeking whom he can devour

We need to stay in God’s Holy Word
And daily seek His face
Never ceasing, always praying
And depending on His grace

For the battle is not won
In just a single day
Against a tricky adversary
It is won every time we pray

AM I WISE ENOUGH

Am I wise enough?
Showing Christian love?
To all I would meet?
To all I would greet?

Am I wise enough?
It would seem not
Yet still I do
Christ’s love shines through

Am I wise enough?
I might get hurt
Yet despite the danger
I will greet the stranger

Am I wise enough?
To follow His command?
To love one another!
Loving as sister and brother?

Whether or not I’m wise enough
I will follow His command!
I will spread His love
Sent from the Father above

SQUABBLING

Squabbling amongst ourselves
Like hatchlings in a nest
Demanding to be first
Demanding to have the best

That’s the way we are in this world
When we try to keep up with others
We don’t care about our neighbors
We don’t care for our sisters and brothers

We have to outdo the next person
We have to have everything
It has nothing to do with our spirits
But everything to do with fleshly things

We have to have the best cars
We have to have a bigger home
We have to have the latest gadgets
Yet our souls within still groan

Deep down within us
We try to fill the gap
With what the world can offer
But still our souls are flat

There is another answer
If only we would look
If only we would open our eyes
And look within God’s Holy Book

We will read in God’s Holy Word
How our Saviour can set us free
The story of His life
And Salvation found at Calvary

It tells us of His love
And how He broke the chains of sin
Of how He defeated death
And of how He will enter in

To accept His Salvation
And let Him break sin’s chain
Confess Him as Lord and be cleansed
By His blood falling like rain

He is faithful to forgive us
His mercy and grace are promised
Come accept this gift of love and life
Leave behind the world’s squabbling and empty solace

GOD'S PROMISE

God’s promise of unconditional love
Of His mercy and His grace
Draws us from the darkness
To seek Your face

God’s promise of forgiveness
For all the wrong we’ve done
Of taking away our burdens
Many a heart has won

The love and joy You fill us with
The breaking of the chains of sin
A life truly transformed
When we ask, You enter in

You promised to save us
From the time of the fall
You came to live, die, and rise again
If we would only hear You call

To follow You, the light of the world
We must turn from our dark path
And let Your light shine from us
Or else on judgment day face Your wrath

So before it is too late
Hear of the promise we are given
Don’t stay in the sinful darkness
Come and enter the gates of heaven

SINGLE MINDED

Have you ever watched a squirrel?
As he nibbled below a bird feeder?
Have you noticed he is focused?
Not minding the shower of seeds, a single minded eater?

Now watch the birds feeding
Nuts and seeds they scatter
They get what they wish
And neatness doesn’t matter

Watching this scene unfold
I am drawn into reflection
A couple things come to mind
Between which there is a connection

We are not neat and tidy
When we come to Calvary
Our souls are bound in sin
But the blood of Jesus sets us free

We need to come under His blood
As it flows from the cross
We need to die to self, live for God
Our turning from sin becomes Satan’s loss

We need to get into God’s Word
And be single minded with purpose
To not let the world distract us
But to spread the words of Jesus

We need to be fed daily
Like the squirrels and the birds
We need to seek His guidance
“Feeding” daily on His words

Those were my thoughts
As I watched that scene before me
How we come to Jesus for forgiveness
And how serving Him should be

ROSES

I see three roses
In bloom on the stem
I pause to gaze
And think on them

A sermon in the blooms
They speak to me
Of my precious Saviour
And of the Trinity

First there is my Father
Who created it all
Even creating man
Though he would fall

Then to redeem us from sin
He sent His only begotten Son
The red is His shed blood on Calvary
And victory over death was won

Jesus rose from the dead
Scriptures promises were true
And when He went to heaven
The Holy Spirit came to me and you

The promise of a Saviour
Who would die and rise again
To make us right with God
To save sinful women and men

The sermon in the roses
About new life and salvation
About being right with God
No longer in sin but a new creation

SPARROW IN FLIGHT

SHELTER

Wet and bedraggled
Looking forlorn
Looking wistful
On this rainy morn

Taking shelter there
Up in that tree
He sort of reminds me
Of me

Taking shelter in God
While darkness reigns
Looking to my Saviour
To protect me again

No matter what the world
Tries to throw at me
I know where to hide
I will hide in Thee

You are my fortress
And my refuge
My perfect shelter
From sins deluge

So like the blue jay
That shelters in the tree
When sin tries to reign
I will shelter in Thee

LIKE A BIRD

LIKE A BIRD

Like a bird in flight
My prayers take wing
Soaring heavenward
To my Lord and King

Like arrows shot
From the archers bow
Prayerful thoughts
To my Saviour go

For I know who listens
He hears every prayer
When I think about
Those for whom I care

I think of my friend
Whose heart is so sore
Full of sorrow and tears
We pray even more

We think of our families
And all that they need
We send up our prayers
Knowing God will take heed

We pray for our friends
Whether or not they know
For their well being
And that of their soul

We pray for the lost
Asking God to guide them
To open their hearts
And as Saviour accept Him

Our prayers take flight
Like an arrow or bird
To our precious Saviour
And we know He has heard

WORDS

Sometimes peoples words
Are filled with barbs and sting
They don’t think of what they say
Out of their mouths come anything

Sometimes people do think
But their words are a snare
They seek to trap and hurt
For themselves only they care

Blessed Saviour it happened to You
Traps set by Scribes and Pharisees
They tried to trap with their learning
With themselves they were well pleased

They sought to hear something
Anything with which to accuse
They tried to catch You at wrongdoing
Their power they did abuse

But they never could bait You
Your words of wisdom frustrated
They went away wagging their heads
But they would return their madness unabated

People are like that
Why should it be any wonder
They go “fishing” with their words
Secretly hoping we will blunder

Our hearts are entwined with Yours
In everything we seek Your will
We ask You to guide us
And Your love in us instill

We need Your help to be like You
For You to guard our tongues and hearts
To protect us from the barbs and stings
And from words like fiery darts

Let us not say anything
With which to provide ammunition
Guide our thoughts and hearts
It will hinder their ambitions

SUNSET ON THE RACE ROAD

BLESSED

SURPRISED BY GRACE

Have you ever been surprised
Upon hearing a well known story
One you thought you knew
About God’s grace and mercy

I was today as I listened
To the story about a dinner feast
Given for the rich who made excuses
But ended with the lost and the least

The master of the house was upset
So he sent his servants to the street
To search the lanes and hedges
Inviting those the rich would never greet

I realized was not one of Your people
I wandered in a world of sin
I was lame, blind and deaf
I was dead deep within

I was a nobody, unimportant
No friends or someone to care
Not one to be seen or touched
I would never be invited anywhere

This was my life until one day
Jesus came and saw my plight
His chosen people would not have Him
So He turned to those lost in the night

He invited us to life
He cleansed our hearts of sin
He chose the least and the lost
And bid us enter in

He saved our worthless lives
By giving up His own
For us He shed His blood
No greater love have we known

He is my precious Saviour
He gave me grace and mercy
They flowed with His precious blood
Flowing freely over me

Now I’m invited to the wedding feast
No longer outcast or lost
All because of my Saviour
My truest friend who didn’t count the cost

WHAT IS THE KEY

What is the key
That will set my spirit free?
Why do I feel flat within
Is it because of sin?

I am a sinner saved by grace
How I long to see Your face
What must I do
To make it through

I storm the heavens everyday
Pleading to be shown the way
Lord I want so bad to serve You
Please show me how to

You gave me so many talents
But I feel only fragments
I know there is more I could do
Lord guide me, I need You

Have I let sadness hold sway
Is that why I’ve lost my way?
Have I let grief over shadow
Like a thick hedge row?

Lord help me let go of the grief
Bring my heart comfort and relief
Let the creativity flow once more
Let me serve You precious Saviour

Let me use the fears and sorrows
From my yesterdays and my tomorrows
Help me use the pain in my heart
To tell others of the love You impart

Let me tell others of Your grace
Of the strength You give to run the race
When we come to You and give our all
You promise to help us when we fall

You fill us with Your blessed love
You send it to us from heaven above
For You came and died on Calvary’s tree
You conquered death to set us free

So what is the key?
The key is found in Thee
You take all we have been through
And if we are willing You help us to use it for You

Jeannine Faith
